What We Do:

Ignite Counseling specializes in trauma-focused therapy, which means we work with trauma and complex trauma as core content areas, and that we also utilize a trauma-informed lens in the treatment of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, transitional stressors, career uncertainty, struggles with identity and sexuality, and overall life distress.

You’ll find that each member of our team practices with their own style and personality, all under a shared value system of what we believe to be effective and healing treatment.  We are a curious, compassionate, and committed group, authentic to our core, who also won’t shy away from integrating humor and levity amidst powerful depth.

We offer both in-person and virtual therapy to individual adults of all ages, races, cultures, genders, and sexualities.

areas of focus:

Anxiety

Do you find yourself ruminating, over-analyzing, having trouble focusing, struggling to relax, or feeling tense and quick to react?  Does it seem like your mind is constantly “buzzing”, the unknowns of life are too overwhelming, and your efforts to control it all have become exhausting?  Sometimes you may go into overdrive, other times you may totally check out, and either way, it just isn’t sustainable anymore.

We’re here to help you build the tools to better manage your anxiety, enhance your ability to be more present, reframe unbalanced and unhelpful self-talk, explore shame, draw insights into core beliefs and how those came to be, and integrate intentional skills to improve the quality of your relationship with yourself and others.

Trauma

Whether you’ve experienced single incident traumatic trauma or ongoing and recurrent complex trauma, whether events were recent or historic, treatment is far from a one-size-fits-all approach.  If you are wrestling with the aftermath of abuse, neglect, assault, medical complications, grief, loss, or any other form of pain, we know that while past certainly impacts present, it doesn’t have to define it.

As trauma-informed, relational therapists, we recognize the depths of what is unspoken alongside the significance of what can be put into words.  We utilize somatic (body), emotion-focused, and cognitive approaches, all paced and attuned to individualized needs.  We understand that in the safety of a secure and trusting relationship, true processing, regulation, integration, and growth can occur.  You do not need to walk this path alone.

Life Transitions

Change is simultaneously thrilling and terrifying, an ongoing necessity in life that can bring about distress in many forms.  Whether it be graduating from college, starting a new job, moving to a new place, a shift in relationship status, becoming a parent, or going through any sort of change or “crisis”, transitions tend to be enormously overwhelming.  If you find yourself feeling more anxious, more depressed, or a bit of both, you are not alone.

When it feels like you have no idea what you’re doing, or who you are, or what comes next, we’re here to support you in navigating the in-betweens as you’re moving into new eras.  Times of transition come with so much learning about identity, values, and needs, and are an opportunity for epic growth.

Relationship Challenges

Connection is a basic human need for health and well-being, and yet relationships can bring about all sorts of stressors.  Are you starting new connections, dating, going through a breakup, navigating friendships, or struggling to build community for yourself? Grappling with self-esteem and self-worth?   Curious to explore your attachment dynamics, how early relationships have impacted yours at present, and why you’re feeling stuck?  Looking for support in how to authentically express yourself without conflict escalation?

Strength in relationships both outside and within the therapy room are imperative.  We’re here to assist and guide you in fostering adaptive support systems in all forms.
